Awa is a beautiful sultry multi-talented pianist, keyboard player,
composer, vocalist, arranger, musical manager and professor
who discovered her love and natural ability for the piano as
a child. As a young girl she began her classical education
at the Regional Music academy of Avignon playing, singing in
choirs and professional masteries while mastering self taught
improvisation, jazz and the music of other continents. Later
Awa entered European training's where she studied with personalities
such as Enrico PIERANUZI, Nicolas FOLMER, Franco d' ANDREA,
Stéphano BATTAGLIA, Paulo FRESU, Enrico RAVA, Furio
DI CASTRI, Samy ABENAÏM, and Bernard MAURY, and took singing
lessons with Geraldine ROS in Paris. She was awarded a diploma
in 1999 by the famous Bill Evans Piano Academy. Awa combined
her artistic experiences often in an approach more close to
a reconciliation of the African Diaspora. You can hear the
wealth of her creativity and the sweetness of her voice in
many several musical styles and combinations from a duo to
Big Band, or in intimate solos often performing at Sunset,
in New Morning, in the Festival Blue Suburbs, in the Opus,
in the Reservoir, in The Scene, in Kissed Salted, in the Festival
Jazz in Toulon, in the Festival Spirit jazz, in 7 Lizards,
to the Man Ray, and the Hotel Vernet, in Cithéa, in
Paris Prague Jazz Club, to television channels Mezzo, France
2 and M6 with Kamaro, on the local Radio stations.
Awa also performed abroad in Italy at the Extreme reactionary
Lounge, performing with her trio during the Festival Pietre Che
Cantano, accompanied by the saxophonist Jessy Davis with the
drummer Billy COBHAM, in Al Kuwait with the group SIYEZA, to
Dubai within the Hotel Madinat of the Jumeirah Company, or in
Vietnam within the Park Hyatt Saigon Hotel and many other international
venues.
Awa also an instructor of musical theory, teaches piano and
voice accompanies choirs such a academies such as the Artist-land
school, the Academy of Plessis Robinson and Acadomia. She plays,
registers or composes with artists such as Ernest DAWKINS for
the Project " THE LAST DIASPORA " (Jazz), Sylvia
Howard, Natt JONES, Djudju CHILD (blues), DÉMAGOG (World
Jazz), PIOUSGENS (rap), Ange FANDOH (Soul), Yela (Reunion),
Shimène PERRI ( Soul New), Djéour CISSOKHO groups
him(it) ALLALAKÉ (World)...
This incredible artist continues to amaze us with her art
and her talent through the group AWALE, a musical project in
her image. It is a story about a cultural fusion, a journey
through the African Diaspora, a sincere and deep crossed music.
