From performing internationally with major cruise lines (Princess
Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian
Cruise Line, and others), to entertaining at numerous private
affairs for Barbara Walters honoring such dignitaries and celebrities
as Henry Kissinger, Mrs. Anwar Sadat and Carol Channing, to
co-starring on television in "Murder, She Wrote" and "Columbo,” are
just a few of the career highlights of this award-winning entertainer.
From the USA to Europe…
Originally from Paris, Tennessee, Sammy’s early career
was as a musical-comedy actor/singer/dancer in summer stock and
touring shows. Since his transition into nightclubs and cabaret,
he has performed at numerous events for NBC-TV in Los Angeles
and New York, and has a client list that also includes Miramax
Films, Geffen Records, the National Broadcasting Association,
Marvin Hamlisch and others. For several years, he was a regular
entertainer for celebrity events at the famed Chasen’s
in Beverly Hills, and has performed at corporate events in New
York at such landmarks as Sardi’s, Tavern on the Green
and Rainbow & Stars. In addition to performing in concert,
to great acclaim, at various U.S. Performing Arts Centers (in
New York City, Albany, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Memphis),
Sammy has also entertained extensively in Las Vegas (Bally’s),
Chicago (Gentry’s), Memphis (Pat O’Brien’s
on Beale Street), and overseas in Norway (Oslo, Bergen and Haugesund)
and Greece (Mykonos and Karpathos).
Awards & Honors…
After moving to New York in 1998 and creating his first East
Coast cabaret show, Sammy Goldstein received the 1999 “MAC” Award
from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs for “Outstanding
New York Cabaret Debut.” Named as one of the "Top
of the Century - Cabaret's Premier Acts" by Cabaret
Scenes Magazine, Sammy's critically acclaimed debut recording, "I'm
Glad There Is You" was named one of the 1998 "Ten
Best Cabaret CD's of the Year" by InTheatre Magazine
and appeared on the first-round ballot of the 1999 Grammy
Awards for "Traditional Pop Vocal Performance." Receiving
a second “MAC” Award nomination in 2001 for "Outstanding
Musical Comedy Performer," Sammy was named as one of
the year’s "Ten Best Cabaret Vocalists" by
Theater Mania, Inc.
The Songs…
Sammy, with a vast repertoire of material, tailors his entertaining
to each audience. His fun-filled performances include standards
of the ‘30s and ‘40s (Gershwin, Cole Porter,
Irving Berlin, Fats Waller), Big Band music (Glenn Miller,
Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington), ‘50’s Rock & Roll
(Elvis Presley, The Platters, Bill Haley & the Comets,
The Big Bopper, Fats Domino), pop classics of the ‘60s
and ‘70s (Billy Joel, Elton John, Barry Manilow, The
Carpenters, Neil Diamond, The Beatles), Broadway hits (Cabaret,
Phantom of the Opera, Cats, 42nd Street, Fiddler on the Roof,
The Lion King), classic pop singers (Frank Sinatra, Johnny
Mathis, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand) and
comedy songs and humor. When performing for an international
audience, Sammy includes songs in Italian, French, German
and Spanish, as well as numerous Irish, Scottish and English
songs.
