BACKGROUND:
A Native of the San Francisco Bay Area, John has been performing, composing and producing music since his early childhood.
His mother a talented blues singer and pianist and his grandparents, all professional musicians and artists, provided John with a rich musical and
cultural background.
As a youngster John studied classical piano and also took up guitar. As a teenager John explored jazz, Latin and rock idioms.
He studied voice with Florence Riggs, Pamela Polland and Bob Rose.
He also studied music at University of California, Santa Barbara and Berkeley.
PERFORMANCE:
Strider has been a performing singer/songwriter and instrumentalist since he was 8 years old.
As a keyboardist/vocalist/guitarist he has performed with Eddie Money,
Larry Graham, Van Morrison, Boz Skaggs, Chuck Berry and John Lee Hooker. As a solo artist, he's opened for Etta James, Jorma Kaukonen (of the Jefferson Airplane), Rodney Crowell, The Talking Heads, and Albert King.
He has toured the world and has been focusing recently in Scandinavia and Northern Europe. |
