DARRAN COOPER - pub entertainer
Darran Cooper was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and
moved at an early age to Dubbo, country N.S.W, the foot of the “Outback”.
After meeting his special friend Andrew Joseph, who also now
has a successful international career, Darran at the age of 16
began his exciting career in music. Darran had grown up listening
to a wide variety of music which included, ‘The Eagles,
INXS, Crowded House, Midnight Oil and U2 as well as John Denver
and Kenny Rogers’
.
He started by playing acoustic guitar and singing in School productions
and competing in Talent competitions throughout N.S.W.
At that time his interests were in the Country Rock arena, and
he won several Male Vocal awards. It was at this time he recognized
a strength in songwriting and began writing with a vision of
bigger and better opportunity.
So the next step was to take the Band, ‘Run Silent’ which
included Andrew Joseph & another good friend Greg White
to Sydney. It wasn’t long before the Band had made an impact
performing in major venues and emerging as very strong Pop/Rock
act with their own songs.
The Band had their first CD launch in 1994 at a popular venue
on Sydney Harbour and was one of the biggest the venue had seen
in years. In 1996 they were signed to an Indonesian Record Company
and had a 6 week tour of Indonesia where Darran’s song ‘Bring
Back the Days’ found the Number1 position and sold over
10 000 copies.
Darran is also a very talented Bass player and has spent much
time playing with other acts and recording on other material
both Live and in the Studio. He than started playing solo around
Sydney, but something was missing, he had more dreams to fulfill,
so he grabbed his Guitar and headed for Europe.
In the Summer of 2000 his first tour started in Norway and Denmark,
and he is now based in Austria. He has worked the last 3 seasons
in the very prestigious Ski resort, Lech. Throughout the year
Darran is playing in many countries around the world, but loves
to come home to Australia. He is a true lover of Music, which
shows in each performance. If you want to see him play here are
